A Boundless Locomotion Production
Grab your flannel and lets ride! We are encouraging people to come out and ride in their favorite flannel/plaid outfits. Of course if you want to come out in your spandex or Hawaiian shirts we will not judge you in the least!
Start/Finish: Meadow Vista Park in Meadow Vista, CA
- 8 Miles north of Auburn
36.5 Mile loop with 12 miles of dirt. Off-road sections are either downhill or uphill so keep it safe out there! It may only be 36 miles but with 4800 feet of climbing and 12 miles of dirt it’s no Sunday stroll. Be ready to suffer!
Out on the route you will ride over two lovely bridges across the North Fork American River. There is generally minimal traffic along the route but please keep in mind that these roads are not closed and there could be a car on the road at any moment! Try to keep single file and to the far right on the short section of Forest Hill Road. It’s very brief and you will be back on remote roads in no time.
We did a pre-ride of the route in the fall and we had riders on road bikes with skinny tires and carbon wheels, gravel bikes, cross bikes, one rider on an old Bridgestone mountain bike, and even a guy on a full suspension 29er! All riders successfully completed the ride. The ideal bike on that day was a disk brake cross bike with gravel tires, compact cranks and a 32 tooth cassette. There are some steep climbs! Bring the granny gears!
All bikes are welcome and doable so just come along and run whatchu brung! Just remember to bring tubes and some basic tools because there is a chance you may have an incident out on course. If you go with the road bike option you should probably start with some fresh rubber.
Tommy’s Service course will be following behind the ride and there will also be a Kinetic Cycles sponsored aid station at the base of Ponderosa rd at mile 25. Along with mechanical support there will also be snacks and GQ-6 hydration available at the Kinetic aid station. There may or may not also be some hop-based energy beverages at an aid station along the route as well.
California Giant Berry farms will be bringing berries to pair with granola and yogurt for breakfast along with coffee. Perfect way to prepare for a fun day on the bike.
Lunch provided along with some hop-based and non hop-based beverages.
We will have meat-eater and vegetarian options available at the taco bar.
Feel free to stay and mingle and share stories from the ride!
